Unusual situations raise many questions in one’s mind that why this happened. One such question rose in every mind after the earth quake that struck Pakistan on 8th October, 2005 leaving approximately 75000 dead and as many as 106,000 received injuries. The earthquake that registered a moment magnitude of 7.6 Richter scale started at 8:53 AM and lasted for approximately 6 minutes. The capital of Pakistan messed up along with Balakot and many other cities of Pakistan. The earth quake was so strong that it made people very depressed and sad. The earthquake brought massive destruction in the northern parts of the country specially Kashmir. Same happened here in Islamabad in the Margalla towers. The building collapsed just like a thin wall of sand.
The question here is unanswered, that why the posh apartments vanished like this? Most people answer this question that it was Allah’s will, no doubt all happen with His will but we cannot leave the people who are responsible for this on this basis. The federal minister of religious affairs of that time said that towers were declared dangerous 10 months before the earth quake but the residents were not ready to vacate it. They gave the reason that they had bought it for so much money.
The main person behind this all is Mr. Ramazan Khoker, the owner of CCC Construction Company. His company along with other engineers and consultants constructed these towers. He had already filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking permission to file a review petition in the main case of the margalla towers and protection of his legal rights regarding the tower’s property. The court noted that Ramazan Khoker and his wife had already been declared fugitive by law, thus first they should surrender themselves and then could apply for bail.
Little time back the residents and owners of the flats had been given the compensation money. But the question is will this case be solved? Can the residents forget their beloved ones after getting the compensation money? The answer to this question is certainly unknown. Every day every morning when the people living around it open their windows they see the remaining standing towers and a missing one in between, which make them more afraid and depressed.
Where many people are searching for these answers don’t you think that these towers are still standing as an example of Allah’s anger? Yes, these towers are example for those people who are walking at wrong paths; this is example for all of us to be on right path and to live a life according to the teachings of Islam.
The government should take necessary steps in order to chop down the remaining standing damaged towers. It is impossible for people to forget it but the existence of damaged towers is adding more depression and sadness to the people living around it.
Margalla Towers was big fail. And Ramazan Khoker should be hanged on a street lamp for sheer irresponsibility.
How can he even live with so many deaths on his count?
Hope the culprits could be brought to justice. There is a hope after seeing Shumaila Rana case that influential person can be brought to justice.
