A complete guide to use Telenor Persona Weblounge

Telenor has launched an exciting service, a complete online service that allows the user to manage every single thing through internet including SIM number selection, package plan  and even the online billing. And That is not it! The costumer will also have the luxury of managing his subscription plan via internet. The worst part of it is that its ONLY for Telenor Persona Postpaid costumers.

The whole process is simple and fast and takes an average of 7 to 11 minutes as revealed by the Frequent User Tests (FUT- A criteria implemented by companies. Before launching a product it is being tested several times by a selected number of users).

Not only the new Persona costumers but those who want to port-in to Telenor Postpay from their existing cellular company can also use the service.

Only what is required from you is to visit this page here. Here you have the choice between either to get a new Persona connection or to manage an existing Persona connection. Click your desired option.

If you click on  ‘Manage existing Persona subscription’ button, a new page will open allowing you to enter your Username and Password in the Login field. If you don’t have an account then Click on the ‘Register Now’ button below the Login field and enter your telenor number in the pop-up window. A pin code will immediately be sent to you on your cell phone. Enter that Pin code into the desired field and your account will be activated. Now login to your account and manage your subscriptions. You can add, delete and edit any subscription you want.

In case you click on ‘Want a new Persona connection’ button, you will be carried to a new page. Here you will have to decide whether you want to buy a new connection with a brand new cell number or you want to port-in from any other cellular network. Make a choice and click on the desired button. In both the cases you will land on the Package selection page. Select among the  Persona Postpaid packages. The three telenor Persona packages are Easy, Simple and Free.

If you cannot decide among the three packages then scroll down and click on the ‘Telenor Persona price plan advisor’ link below the package plan buttons. It will lead you to an animated questionnaire, you will be asked about your estimated monthly mobile spent and the services you frequently use. After getting your input the Telenor Persona price plan advisor will recommend you a suitable Package for you along with the add-ons you must subscribe to.

After the package selection you will be asked for your desired add-ons. Each add-on costs you some amount and the total amount that you have to pay is added in the Shopping cart, displayed on the lower left side of your browser.

Now comes the time to select a number. Here you are only asked to enter a number as a ‘key’ and the system will automatically generate a list of numbers that contain your key. Select a number and continue.

You will then be asked to enter your email ID twice in the specific fields. After entering the email ID an email will be sent to you. You will have six hours to click on the link given in that email. Your number will be reserved for the next six hours. Click on the link within six hours and it will take you to the telenor weblounge site where you will be asked to enter your CNIC number. After that a form will appear where you will have to enter your personal information, your credit card number and the shipping information.

The good thing about the payment policy is that you are not required to enter your credit card’s CVV number. While entering your credit card number you will see a column of ‘card expiry date’, here you need to enter the expiry date of your credit card. The system doesn’t allow cards of expiry date less than 6 months, so make sure your card does not expire within the next six months.

At every step you have the option of saving the form and reserving your number for the next 24 hours by just clicking on the ‘save and continue later’ button. Once you are done from entering the shipment information, your form will be emailed to you in the pdf format.

Your SIM will be delivered to you within the next 48 hours. Don’t forget to be present at your place at the delivery time you have chosen. Keep your original CNIC and last Credit Card statement with you. The costumers who have ported-in from other cellular networks to Telenor will also receive their Persona Post Pay SIM within 48 hours. In case their previous network doesn’t allow them to leave the network due to any reason, Telenor will immediately return their subscription charges and will inform them via an email.

Currently the SIM delivery is only restricted to ten cities, which are, Faisalabad, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi and Sialkot. There is no such self delivery service in any other cities. That is if you are not living in any of the above mentioned cities then you actually cannot avail this service. People from other cities cannot receive their SIMs from the Telenor’s official Costumer Service Centers in those cities if they have applied online using Telenor Weblounge.

Developed by Creative Chaos, the application used for weblounge is simple, attractive and user friendly. But during the demo we witnessed a couple of could-be security loopholes as the Telenor weblounge portal still doesnt work on the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol. When questioned Mustafa Jamshed Gillani, the Assistant Manager Products and Platforms, He said that the developers are working on making the system more secure. He hoped that SSL will be enabled on the weblounge portal within a month.
