During the Lahore Tweetup 2009 Badar Khushnood, Pakistan country consultant Google Inc, announced the most amazing thing for Pakistani bloggers, that is Pakistan’s first ever blog awards. He announced this news during the closing ceremony of the event.
Badar was quoted as saying:
In partnership with Dawn News, CIO Pakistan and Google are announcing the blog awards. The first ever blog awards for Pakistan.
The news was appreciated by the twitterers and bloggers present on the occasion. Badar didn’t reveal the details of the awards. The suggestions in this regard can be sent to Badar Khushnood (@badar76) and Rabia Garib (@rabiagarib), chief editor CIO Pakistan, via a simple tweet. The tweet must carry the #Pakistan hashtag.
Blogging in Pakistan has groomed a lot in the last one year, courtesy a series of meetups conducted by Badar Khushnood in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. The first bloggers meetup took place in Lahore at LUMS last year. Further meetups in Karachi and Islamabad injected the spirit of blogging in the Pakistani youth. In the last one year alot of new blogs have emerged onto the blogosphere.
The blogging awards is a very good step in promoting blogging in Pakistan. We at Pakiology hope that our youth takes over the blogosphere by starting up some interesting blogs. Blogs are the fastest and most reliable medium of information.
