In Quran Allah Almighty says

“Fasting has been written down (as obligatory) upon you, as it was upon those before you”.

Its last ten days are so important because on one of those days the holy Quran was revealed to Muhammad (P.B.U.H) on the night known as Laylat-ul-qadar. Ramadan brings along with it the charm of sehri and iftar. The fasting starts with fajar and ends at the Maghrib. People starts preparing for this Holy month from many days before its arrival.

One of the other pillars of Islam known as zakat is offered in this month. Many people try to help their poor brothers and sisters by giving zakat or they offer iftar meal to them. Children are also taught to keep the fast and Muslims are encouraged to read the whole Quran. Many tasty meals are made for the iftar. Every where the preparations for iftar starts at the time of asar prayer. Muslims buy various things for their kids and family. The items like pakoras, samosay, chats and kachoris are so common in this month. The iftar time brings smile to many faces and they end their fast by thanking Allah for giving them patience and strength to fast. If in case someone eat or drink something by mistake then that person should spit it out and carry on its fast by saying sorry to Allah.

We have to fast for 29 or 30 days in which we have to control our desires. And at the end Ramadan gifts us with Eid-ul-Fitar. Eid-ul-Fitar is the beginning of new holy month after the new moon has sighted. It is the festival of breaking the fast, a time for celebrations.

Let’s welcome the new month of Ramadan and let’s pray to Allah that it bring happiness and ease for everyone to worship Allah. May Allah give us strength and patience so that we can celebrate this Holy month in the best possible way. Help the poor, be patient and pray to Allah that’s what Ramadan means.
