The clocks were advanced by an hour at the start of summer season in a bid to use greater part of the day light, a step taken on the proposal of Ministry of Water and Power. Named as Day-light saving time, the clocks were advanced by one hour to save electric energy and to help the power starving country.

Update: Syed Sumsan Ali Shah Bukhari, Minister of state for Information and broadcasting, has just announced that the clocks will be reverted to Pakistan Standard Time on November 1, 2009. Earlier the government had decided to revert the time on Ist October but the cabinet didn’t approve it.
